What Is EPA in Football? Expected Points Added Explained

EPA, or Expected Points Added, measures how much a single football play increases or decreases a team's expected scoring outcome. It is one of the most widely used efficiency metrics in modern NFL analytics because it evaluates what a play accomplished within the context of the game.
